During the year 2024 I have visited four pines each month, 12 times each, and have now completed all four December visits, in time before Christmas. Visiting the pine of the year in Kaivopuisto Park, recording the year of the pine while playing an old blues harp for the tree – or rather breathing through it – is documented on a page on the RC in a manner that amplifies the yearly cycle. The other three pines I have been talking to or with and I have made both videos and podcast episodes of each conversation. The two pines on the shore in Kaivopuisto park I adressed in English and read to them selections from a book about the ecology and biogeography of pines, thereby studying pines with the pines. A small pine on the shore in Mustikkamaa Island I have spoken to in Finnish, discussing various matters related to trees, often something I have read recently. And lastly, a pine with thick, low-reaching branches on the shore in Drumsö near my childhood home I told childhood memories to in Swedish. Everything is now edited and published, all this material is online, but the question still remains: what to do with it?
