First Weeks of Autumn in Helsinki

Returning to the pine trees in Helsinki coincided with small events of exhibiting old work. First I participated in “Konstrundan”, an open studios weekend (2-3.9) with artists participating all over the country. I covered the windows in my studio and created a miniature cinema of sorts, in order to show performances with pine trees on Örö made in 2020 and 2021 as part of the project Meetings with Remarkable and Unremarkable Trees. The video in the image below is an old performance on Harakka Island, Year of the Dog – Sitting in a Tree (2007), a test image only.

The second event was a media art exhibition (10-18.9) organised by Muu gallery, which had been postponed due to the pandemic, and I had already forgotten about it. The work I had proposed for the exhibition, Year of the Pig with a Tatarian Maple (2019) made in Stockholm, is shown as a speeded-up mini version originally planned to be watched on mobile devises. It has nothing to do with pines.

The main achievement in terms of pondering with pines was a conversation with the reclining pine on Sunday 11th of September, which turned out to be the last sunny day for a while. This time we talked about autotheory and also a little bit about the writing of pines. The video is available on the RC as usual, here, and the podcast episode (Pine-15) is available on SoundCloud, here.
